BIOGRAPHY

Jason Serious is an American singer-songwriter based in Munich, Germany. Jason was born in Baltimore and at age 7 moved to a rural part of Maryland near the Mason-Dixon Line.  His longing to see the world led him to Chicago, where he met his future wife – an Austrian girl he’d end up following back to Europe.  After settling in Germany and then suddenly losing his job, he became a stay-at-home-dad and began writing songs and moonlighting as a singer in a local cover band.

Since hitting the European circuit in 2011 he has opened for Billy Bragg, Paul Heaton, Nathaniel Rateliff, Timber Timbre and The Wood Brothers. His debut album Undercover Folk (2012) was enthusiastically received by a number of leading alt-country blogs (see reviews) and enjoyed regular radio play by country and folk DJs across Europe.

In late 2015 Jason and his band traveled to London to record a follow-up album with acclaimed producer Grant Showbiz (The Smiths, Billy Bragg, Wilco, Frank Turner).  After releasing Kin in 2016 Jason decided to take a break from touring to spend more time with his family.

In 2017, craving a return to the stage,  he joined the folk trio Yonder Boys and returned to regular touring thoughout Europe.  Yonder Boys albums Acid Folk (2020) and A Makeshift Family (2025) feature some of Jason’s best songwriting yet.

He is now working on his third studio album as a solo artist, which he expects to release and tour in 2026.
